Vinculum launched in October 2023, starting out as a magazine with humble beginnings. What were these humble beginnings, you ask? A group of students huddled around a wooden classroom desk brainstorming ways to connect their pursuit of writing with their passion for mathematics.

Furiously thinking of a way to bring all students of maths together, searching for a word to symbolise this mission, we came up with the name Vinculum: all elements beneath the bar are to be treated as a single entity.

Whether it be to signify our unity in our love for the subject or to denote our equality in the weight of our words, Vinculum is more than the name of this magazine, it is its very definition.

To sum it all up, we’re a group of bright eyed students who write essays, find derivatives, prove theorems and make maths puns for a living.
